The motor insurance database has launched a new service to provide roadside access to driver’s details.
The traditional method is to exchange details with the person who has just crashed into you at the side of the road.
However, so long as you have a smartphone or device you can go online to askMID.com and find out their insurance details.
This is a really useful service as you need more than just the other driver’s name and registration – you also need the name of their insurance company AND the policy number itself before you can even start to take forward a claim.
This service is being put forward as a double check, to make sure that the driver’s details that you have just exchanged are correct. All you need to enter is your email address, your registration number and their registration number. You should then receive their insurance details on screen and also by way of email.
It is hoped that this new system takes off, as any initiative to take away the fear and worry following an accident must be a good thing.
